Investing Update: I Told You So
What I'm buying, selling & watching
The S&P 500 posted its first record closing high since January 27th. The Nasdaq posted its first record closing high since October 29th. And both did it in style.
The Nasdaq has strung together 13 consecutive winning sessions. That is the longest winning streak since January 1992. The tech ETF XLK matched it, also up 13 straight days. The software ETF IGV put together its best week since October 2001.
From the March 30th lows, the S&P 500 is up 13% in just 14 trading days. That is not a slow grind. That is a rocket ship.
Here is where things stand across the board:
Market Recap
A few things jump out. Oil is still up 45% year-to-date despite falling 13% this week as Iran ceasefire optimism crept in. Gold is up 11% on the year and quietly doing its job. Bitcoin is the only red number on the board at -11.7% YTD. And the Russell 2000 is actually the YTD leader of the major indexes at +11.1%, which does not get nearly enough attention.
