The other night I spent a few moments watching the news before my wife’s favorite TV show came on. That was a mistake. I actually muted it so the kids didn’t have to hear the garbage some people are capable of doing.
I don’t need to be reminded on a daily basis of how bad some people can be. There has been and will always be people doing terrible things. Sadly, today what’s exploited in the news creates fear and anger. That goes for what’s on both the television and the internet.
After watching the news you actually feel worse. We feel worse about ourselves, our community, our state and our country. We’re forced to accept the bad and negative. It’s almost as if we’ve become immune to all the bad that happens today.
This reminds me why I don’t waste the time watching the news. Why am I watching this? What is this doing for me? This was just a complete waste of time. How is this improving anything about me personally or my family?
If something is important enough I’ll hear about it. I’m not worried about FOMO when it comes to the news world today. Those around you will always keep you updated. Let them spend their time watching the news. Turn the channel or turn it off.
I’m tired of turning off the news so my children don’t hear all the terrible and stupid things people have done. If your little kids can’t watch the news with you, something is wrong. They’ll understand and see that soon enough in their lives.
Everyone needs to be better and do better. No matter your career, political beliefs, race, labels or affiliations. We all need to do better!
Raising children in today’s environment is tough. As they age it gets tougher. Everyone raising children keep pressing on. There is no other option. All parents have the goal of providing better for their children than they had it. We continue teaching them right from wrong the best they can.
Help them focus on the good. Helping them focus on the good allows us to also focus on the good. Teach by showing contentment and kindness. Both are severely lacking in society today.
Concentrate on the good. Work on improving the good. Entirely too much time is spent arguing and debating the nonessential. The unimportant sucks away our time and energy.
What we focus and spend our time on is solely dependent upon ourselves. I make decisions for myself and my family. You make decisions for yourself and your family.
Be better, do better and find the good.
